Tour Operator: Wilderness Safaris

Forget big lodges with large numbers of tourists, they are not for the tourist who want to capture the heart and soul of Africa. This is even more relevant in today's fast moving and crowded world. When Wilderness Safaris was created in 1983 they had this obsession for privacy ingrained into their philosophy and it is an integral part of the culture today.

Wilderness Safaris make each camp blend into its environment and location. They aim to make each camp special. Each safari's itinerary is designed to include the many highlights of the region visited. The best game viewing or scenically rich areas are a priority, and on all safaris some exclusive wildlife areas are used, usually their own private camps, and a variety of modes of transport form one location to another. Still, there are some key ingredients that are common to all their safaris and camps.

So many people come to Africa and leave without experiencing that which is most special - remote, private and unspoiled African reserves offering incredible wildlife and wilderness experiences. They aim is to provide safaris where privacy is the main focus. The largest private reserve in which they operate is over 600,000 acres and accommodates only 12 guests. Wilderness Safaris' camps are small by design, with 3-12 rooms each and provide comfort and luxury while enhancing the character of their surroundings. Their commitment is to blend privacy and quality with the magic and wildlife of the exquisite African continent.

Years ago Wilderness Safaris targeted twenty areas in the finest reserves in southern Africa. Today they are pleased that they have been successful in building camps in all of these reserves. Wilderness Safaris operates camps and safaris in six countries: Botswana, Malawi, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
