| Description: Abseiling is the act of rappelling down a vertical or near-vertical face with the aid of a rope, harness and friction device. One needs no prior experience, just a sense of adventure and a willingness to step out over the edge.
Most people get it right after a five-minute briefing. An experienced guide will belay you with an additional safety rope. In other words, even if you lose control, a second rope controlled by the guide suspends you.
We have access to abseil sites from 25 to 60m high in the Blyde Canyon, the Olifants Gorge and a fabulous granite pinnacle at Sorabi Rock Lodge near Mica. Winter is the best time for abseiling in the Lowveld. Minimum group size: 4 Maximum group size: 12 Accommodation: Otters Den River Lodge
