    What are the African conditions?

Please note that the itineraries will depend on local conditions:

Travelling in Africa is sometimes unpredictable.  By the very nature of travelling in remote areas there are unforeseen challenges to overcome and passengers should have a taste for adventure.  Unforeseen circumstances due to problems with road conditions, weather, mechanical breakdown or accidents can delay and change the performance of the safari.  Please come prepared, mentally and physically.

Are Kiboko Safari leaders qualified and professional?
Our dedicated and professional Kiboko Safari leaders are selected for their experience of the African bush and this will ensure that your travel experience is enjoyable and successful.  The guides are in the full time employ of the company and are professionals.  Detailed information on the history of the area, fauna and flora is given to participants during the safari.  A local camp assistant helps with general camp chores and duties.  The safaris are conducted in English.

    What are Kiboko vehicles like?
    -  Custom built all terrain Mercedes Benz and Toyota Safari Wagons designed for African conditions
    -  Unique game viewing hatches and observation roof racks.
    -  Due to the height of the vehicle, observation and photography of wildlife is excellent.
    -  Large, sliding windows that offer protection from the sun in summer, dust and the cold on morning game drives in winter (June to September).
    -  Easy-to-open windows allow you the freedom of an open vehicle when the weather is good.
    -  Forward facing seats
    -  Special storage compartments beneath the seats.
    -  1 Freezer for fresh food and a coolbox for drinks.

    What equipment do you provide?
We provide spacious, comfortable tents (W 2.4m, L 2.4, H 1.9m) accommodating 2 persons each.  Each tent is insect proof and equipped with a built in ground sheet for insulation as well as two aerating windows with mosquito nets.  Each passenger is provided with a foam mattress and a comfortable safari holding chair.  A comprehensive set of cooking and camping equipment, water containers, first aid box, reference books on mammals and birds of the area and a set of spare parts is carried in the vehicle.  In fact the only things the participants need to bring are their personal effects and a sleeping bag or blanket.

Do I have to participant in any chores?
With Kiboko you are a participant on safari.  You assist the guide with the making and breaking up of camp.  You erect and dismantle your tent easily.  Your participation and involvement is the secret of an enjoyable and successful journey.  All our groups are informal and pleasant.  Everybody's participation is essential for a memorable safari.

What currency do I have to use for local payment?
Most African countries require payment in US Dollars.  For this reason we require a local payment which is payable in cash, to the guide on the day of departure.  This will be used to pay for park entrance fees, boarder taxes, camping fees and other expenses during the trip.  Please note that this is not a food kitty.  No participants will be allowed to board the vehicle before settling the local payment.
