Manyatta Rock Lodge is situated in the 4000 hectare privately owned Kwa Madwala Game Reserve in Mpumalanga Province just 4 hours drive from Johannesburg. The nature reserve, which now forms part of the Ligwalagwala community reserve comprising some 30,000 hectares. With its unique "rock-like" appearance the lodge blends in with the surrounding huge boulders on the top of the hill on which it is situated. Situated only 4 hours drive east of Johannesburg off the N4 and nestled in the Kwa Madwala Game Reserve South of the Crocodile River, this unique lodge has been designed to blend in with the huge boulders from which its name is derived.

Accommodating 20 guests in only 10 air conditioned "boulder" chalets - each with it's own private deck and outdoor shower, personal service and attention are the order of the day. Our exclusive rock camp, Manyatta, is a warm-hearted bush retreat that welcomes you to a world of inner peace, satisfaction and a rich variety of animal, bird and tree life. Each unit is fully air-conditioned, en-suite with own lounges and mini bars. A private deck and an open air shower overlooking waterholes, a vast expansion of nature at it’s best. The camp comprises of ten units, built on a rock “koppie”, so as to blend in with its natural surroundings with as little disturbance to nature as possible, and to enhance the view.

A rock pool with deck and game lookout complete the picture for an unforgettable getaway and game experience. Some viewing is conducted in open top vehicles and while the reserve hosts 4 of the Big Five the emphasis is on a total game experience.

Manyatta Rock Lodge

Subtle lighting around the camp and footpaths connect all rooms to the swimming pool, boma dining decks, bar and viewing lounge deck. All 27 rooms are comfortable yet tastefully furnished and infused with elegant African touches. The bedrooms are air-conditioned with two twin beds made up as a queen size bed and include a mini fridge (which can be stocked as a bar upon request). The en-suite bathroom has dual his and hers sinks, w.c. and bath.

Seven of the accommodation units also feature a separate living room complete with sofa bed, mini fridge and wood burner. These units are well suited to families with older children. Maximum room occupancy in these units is 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 children.

The beautifully appointed Honeymoon Suite features a large four poster bed, private deck and shower and is ideally located for maximum privacy.
