Daily activities include the early morning and afternoon game drives in search of the Big Seven. A bush walk is offered every day after breakfast, which will open up a new world of smaller fauna and flora. The afternoon game drive affords you the opportunity to have a sundowner at a carefully selected venue in the African bush. Evening meals are served around a fire in the boma under the vast African sky .
Breakfast and lunch are served buffet style in the thatched lapa. Adjacent to the swimming pool, the wooden deck offers spectacular views overlooking the waterhole and scenic plain. Malaria precautions are necessary during the summer months as we are in an endemic area. All rooms have mosquito nets over the beds for additional sleeping comfort, however, insect repellent and anti-malarial tablets are recommended (repellents available in our shop). We run an environmentally friendly program at the lodge treating the whole camp and surrounding dams, we therefore have few mosquitoes.
Clothing and Accessories. Dress code is bushveld casual and lightweight, though a sweater may be needed during the evenings. Summer (September to April) is hot to very hot with temperatures ranging 20 - 40 C with rainfall (waterproofs are a good idea), protection from the sun is vital. Winter (May - August) is mild to warm and pleasant with temperatures ranging between 5 - 35 C. However during winter the night drives and early mornings can be cold and warm clothing is essential. A camera and binoculars will add pleasure to your stay.

Hi Lientjie: Absolutely fabulous time at Elephant Plains. Would have no hesitation is recommending it to all and sundry. Anton in particular was a top class game ranger, the food and welcome were of an equally high standard. Peter Walker 20-Mar-04
Thank you very much for your e-mail, we had a fantastic time in ZA, especially in the Elephant plain lodge! Living in the middle of the game, tracking them (especially early in the morning) and then having the opportunity to admire and film them! This is one of our very special memories of your beautiful country. Also the commitment and effort of the driver and tracker made it something never to forget! Keep up the very good work and CU again sometime! In the meanwhile, give our love to the animals! Best regards, Luc & Pegie Luc Verachtert 27-Nov-03
We had a wonderful time there. We were overly impressed with the new accommodation and were spoilt by all the staff. A definite recommendation to any traveller wanting a comfortable bush experience. Reg Hann regh@saparks.com 4-Aug-03
Indeed we had a fantastic holiday in South Africa, what a great country and everyone that we met were so friendly and accommodating! Elephant Plains was ideal. We saw the BIG FIVE - well just about, only an elephants bottom. This is the time of the year that the elephants move north. That's fine because we saw plenty of elephants in Botswana two years ago. The highlight for me was the Leopard which we stopped 6 feet away from. Being able to manouvre off the tracks is the beauty of being on a private reserve. The size of the lodge ensured a peaceful setting and we really did feel as though we were integrated with the surrounding country and its inhabitants. The attention given by the staff and the enthusiasm of the rangers ensured a pleasurable experience. 30-Apr-03
