Itinerary
Day 1
Arrive in Lilongwe. On arrival you will be met and transferred to the Korean Garden Lodge. Lunch and dinner will be in local restaurants in the city and is included in the price.
Overnight at the lodge on a full board basis.
Day 2
After breakfast drive to Mua Mission where you will spend the morning meeting local artists renowned for their woodcarvings and visiting the fascinating cultural museum. After a picnic lunch you depart to Liwonde National Park.
Overnight at Mvuu Camp, all meals included.
Days 3 - 6
Art Safaris are for people with a keen interest in art and nature. There are 2 art sessions per day with plenty of opportunity to sketch, watch and relax in glorious surroundings. Liwonde is rich in flora and fauna and situated on the picturesque Shire River. The teeming bird life, wallowing hippos, playful elephants and basking crocodiles give you every chance for self-expression. Day game drives are included as well as 1 boat safari and 1 game drive into the Rhino Sanctuary. Extra boat safaris, game drives into the Rhino Sanctuary and night drives are optional extras. Overnight at Mvuu Camp in en suite chalets on a full board basis.
Day 7 to 8
After leaving Mvuu, you have an hour game drive back through the park then towards northwards to Lake Malawi. Here you stay at Salima's and Senga Bay in chalets at Stuart Grant's Cichlid breeding centre.
Overnight at the lodge on a full board basis.
Day 9
After an early start, you head to Lilongwe and continue to Zambia and Luangwa Valley. Estimated time of arrival at your lodge in the valley is mid afternoon. Overnight at en suite chalets / permanent tented camp on a full board basis.
Days 10 & 12
Morning and afternoon outings into the national park - with long stops to sketch or paint the dramatic landscape and mammal interaction. Overnight at the lodge, twin en suite room with all meals included.
Day 13
After breakfast depart Luangwa and drive back to Lilongwe. From Lilongwe it's a short 1 hour drive to Dzalanyama Forest Reserve. This Brachystegia forest is home to some of Malawi's rarest bird species and gives the artist a different perspective and chance to capture some of Malawi's varied forest and mountain scenery. Waterfalls and streams form the perfect backdrop to your lessons.
Overnight Forest Lodge with all meals provided.
Day 14
A day relaxing and sketching or painting in the peaceful surrounds of the forest. Walks and visits to nearby waterfalls or the school project is offered.
Overnight at the Forest Lodge on a full board basis.
Day 15
After breakfast transfer you to the airport for your return flight.
